Class Descriptions:

ILCO TRANSPONDER TECHNOLOGY: FRIDAY, FEB 18, 2011. 8:00 AM - 12:00 NOON. 4 Hours.
Instructor: Joy Skowron.
This class will take you through a review of transponder technology, cloning both TI and Philips (ID46) transponder keys, on-board programming, origination with the TKO and troubleshooting when working with transponders. Also a review of important information, troubleshooting tips and industry trends.

ALARM LOCK TRILOGY AND NETWORX. FRIDAY, FEB 18, 2011. 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. 4 Hours.
Instructors: Mike and Adam Gall.
Part one: Trilogy overview/accessories.
Part two: Programing at key pad-user codes-proxcards-schedules-etc.
Part three: Computer software(dl windows) scheduling, timezones.
Part four: Networx overview and questions.

INGERSOLL-RAND ELECTRONICS: SATURDAY, FEB 19, 2011. 8:00 AM - 12:00 NOON. 4 Hours.
Instructor: Nate Spitz.
In this class the participants will learn about the Bright Blue access control system, and discover it's capabilities and ease of operating and programming. This will start from the basics of what the Bright Blue system is and how it operates and then dive deep into a hands on portion describing how to address interfaces and connect them directly to the Bright Blue System. In this class, participants will also learn how to set up the data base and manage software which is key for training their customers about this system. In the second half of this class participants will be introduced to the new AD400 Lock from Ingersoll Rand. This is a wireless technology used in conjunction with the Bright Blue system or in an open architecture arena. Participants will learn how to connect a Panel Interface module to the Bright Blue system as well as learn how to make the AD400 lock, communicate wirelessly to the Panel Interface Module.

ASSA/ABLOY ELECTRONICS: SATURDAY, FEB 19, 2011. 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. 4 Hours.

SV012 CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL SAFE TECH (CPS) PREPARATION CLASS I & II. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, FEB 18 & 19, 2011. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. 16 Hours. (Two day class)
Instructor: Harry Sher, CML, CPS
This is not a beginning class. Although this class is designed as a review to prepare participants for the STPRP certification tests, it is an excellent overview of the wide range of topics related to safes and safe locks. Students will participate in 2 days of fast paced instruction and hands-on training, covering basic and advanced, theory and operation of safes and safe locks. Safe and safe lock construction, ratings, container classifications, servicing and defeat methods are just some of the subjects covered in class. Students will also learn; the proper way to scope a change key hole, lock defeat methods, drill point options, how to pull various dials, lock handing, safe door handing, lock-out diagnostics, the correct way to drill and transfer and much more. Note: There is a $100.00 lab fee required for the class text (The 320 page Safe Technicians’ Reference Manual by Mike Oehlert, CPS, CPL) which is retained by the students. Students must have a copy of this text for use during class.
B010 EXIT ALARMS AND DEVICES (P-16) FRIDAY, FEB 18, 2011. 8:AM - 5:00 PM. 8 Hours
Instructor: David Thielen, CML 8 hours.
This class has been updated to include delayed exit devices that comply with NFPA101. A wealth of information will be covered on exit devices including: types, functions, ratings, options, installations, repairs and servicing. Hands-on practice as well as slides, videos and handouts will be provided. Students will be able to properly remove, service, troubleshoot malfunctions and retrofit many of the popular exit devices. Materials to bring to class: Common and Phillips screwdrivers and an Allen wrench set. The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP Section L-16. ALOA members who pay the additional $15.00 lab for the test may take PRP Section L-16 at the end of the class.

SL007 KEYLESS MECHANICAL LOCK SERVICING: W/L-20 PRP SATURDAY, FEB 19, 2011. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM 8 Hours
Instructor: David Thielen, CML 8 hours
The student will learn the proper terminology, function, application, installation and service of keyless
mechanical locks. The major brands of Keyless mechanical locks including Simplex/Unican, Preso-Matic, Digital Door Lock Systems, Supra, as well as the various brands of keyless padlocks and cam locks will be emphasized. You will become familiar with mounting characteristics, combination changing and common service malfunctions.
Reference Material: Manufacturers’ literature from: Simplex, Preso-Matic Keyless Locks, Digital Door Lock Systems, Supra, Master Padlock and CCL The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP section L-20. ALOA members who pay the additional $15.00 lab for the test may take PRP Section L-20 at the end of the class.

Instructor Bios:
JOY SKOWRON is the Automotive Channel Marketing Specialist at Kaba Ilco; she has been involved in many facets of the automotive aftermarket for 33 years and has been conducting automotive training classes for the past 17 years. Joy has been involved with the technology changes during that time, and educating the market through the evolution of products and technology.

MIKE GALL is a Veteran of the Midwest hardware distribution industry,
Mike has a great depth of experience and is the principal of
Hardlines, an independent representative of door hardware
manufacturers including Hager and Trine as well as Alarm Lock.

NATE SPITZ graduated from Purdue University in 2006 and has spent the last four years with Ingersoll Rand. Nate began with Ingersoll Rand in 2006 learning about the company's commercial distribution business, as well as learning about the Ingersoll Rand Integration business dealing heavily in electronics and full building security integration including CCTV and Access Control. In 2007 Nate continued with that business for about a year and half before moving back up to MN to pursue his Master's degree in business administration and take on a role with North Central SSC office.

PAUL DAVIS has been with ASSA ABLOY for 8 years as the factory representative for SARGENT, CORBIN RUSSWIN, McKINNEY, NORTON, RIXSON, and YALE and more. Currently the Electromechanical Specialist for our local office located in Oakdale Minnesota. He has been in the lock industry for over 30 years, coming from a family of locksmiths. PLT licensed in Minnesota.

HARRY SHER, CML, CPS is a Certified Master Locksmith a Certified Professional Safe Technician and an ACE Certified Instructor. He has been a locksmith since the 1950's. He is an active member of ALOA, SAVTA, IAIL and numerous local associations. Harry has been instructing Federal Officers since 1967. Most recently he was responsible for building a training facility for Federal Officers for the National Nuclear Security Administration. He has taught classes for many local and regional locksmith associations as well as ALOA. Harry is the 2007 recipient of the ALOA Continuing Education (ACE) Instructor of the Year award which is presented annually by the ALOA Training Department.
DAVID E. THIELEN, CML is the lockshop manager for Adams Twelve Five Star School District, Broomfield, Colorado. David has been a professional locksmith for more than 25 years a member of RMLA and DHI and a member of ALOA since 1985. He has instructed classes for the Rocky Mountain Locksmiths Association and has developed and instructed ACE certified classes for ALOA at regional and national conventions. David is a two time winner of the ALOA Continuing Education (ACE) Instructor of the Year award, most recently receiving the 2004 ACE award which is presented annually by the ALOA Training Department.

DAVID PAULSRUD, SR, CML has served ALOA in many capacities for over 40 years. He cheerfully gives his time to proctor our local PRP exams to advance the professionalism of the industry. He “retired” 10 years ago, but I don’t see him slowing down.
